Comet

You’ll spot The Comet before you even reach the ride area, towering over Great Escape as one of the park’s most iconic wooden landmarks.

Stretching 4,200 feet, this classic wooden coaster brings a remarkable legacy to the park. Originally built in 1927 as Cyclone, it quickly became one of the most talked-about rides of its era. Reimagined in 1947 as The Comet, it thrilled guests for decades before finding its home at Great Escape, where its story continues today.

The Comet is recognized as an ACE Roller Coaster Landmark by American Coaster Enthusiasts, honoring its historic significance and lasting impact on coaster history.

Known for its smooth layout, powerful airtime hills and classic out-and-back wooden coaster design, The Comet features drops and hills reaching up to 85 feet and delivers that unmistakable wooden coaster rush from start to finish.

Every ride carries a piece of history. On The Comet, you’re not just riding a coaster, you’re becoming part of its story.
